Originally from Texas and Oklahoma, Kelsey officially became a North Carolinian when she moved to the Triangle from Oklahoma City in 2012. The daughter of a veterinarian, Kelsey was raised around cats, dogs, horses, cows, and, at one point, even wallabies! Kelsey’s upbringing instilled in her a lifelong love of animals, and she believes in treating all animals as if they were her own. She and her husband have two tuxedo cats, Abbey and Claudia Jean (CJ), and have been foster parents with Independent Animal Rescue since 2013. Kelsey holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and is active in state and local politics. When she’s not working, she enjoys writing and practicing her photography skills.
